Nancy Lumb, LCSW

Supervisor, Licensed Psychotherapist

“Therapy is your gateway to clarity, joy and a happier you. Start living your best life.”

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in individual and couples therapy for high-performing professionals and couples in New York and California. I help clients manage stress, work-life balance, and emotional challenges, offering practical tools to improve communication, trust, and intimacy.

My Therapy Style

I work with professionals, high achievers, and those who are searching for balance, happiness, and a deeper sense of fulfillment. Many of my clients arrive feeling anxious, overextended, or quietly burned out. Beneath the surface, there is often a longing to reconnect with who they truly are and to find meaning in both their inner world and the relationships that shape their lives.

I specialize in supporting individuals who are not just seeking symptom relief, but a deeper understanding of themselves, including how they show up in relationships, how they set boundaries, and how they can cultivate connection without losing themselves.

Over the past two decades, I’ve worked with smart, sensitive, and capable people who are tired of performing their way through life. My therapeutic approach draws from relational, psychodynamic, and contemplative traditions. I offer a grounded, reflective space where we hold the questions that don’t have quick answers. In that space, something meaningful always emerges — not through correction, but through curiosity, connection, and compassionate exploration.

“Imagine living a life where you feel truly aligned in both your relationship and career —where confidence, clarity, and purpose guide your every decision.”

My Supervision Style

Supervision has been one of the most meaningful parts of my career. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring many social workers at various stages in their journeys. I approach supervision as a collaborative and reciprocal relationship, one rooted in curiosity, integrity, and shared purpose.

I work best with supervisees who are thoughtful, committed, and take their professional development seriously. I look for a deep sense of curiosity and a genuine desire to seek insight, not only from me, but from within themselves and from the broader clinical community. I believe the way a clinician shows up in supervision often reflects how they show up in the therapy room: with openness, honesty, and a willingness to be vulnerable in service of learning.

For me, supervision is not just about building clinical skills. It's also about cultivating self-awareness, integrity, and humility, all of which strengthen our ability to hold space for others. I value supervisees who are open to exploring different perspectives, who reflect on what resonates with their own values and style, and who also have the discernment to set aside what doesn’t align. I deeply respect those who are willing to sit with uncertainty, ask meaningful questions, and stay engaged in the ongoing process of becoming the clinician they want to be.

You don’t need to have all the answers. In fact, I appreciate when supervisees trust in their ability to grow over time. I see supervision as a collaborative space where curiosity, responsibility, and compassion come together. If you’re drawn to this approach and are looking for a thoughtful, honest supervision relationship, I invite you to reach out through Insight Psychology Practice. We can set up an initial meeting to explore whether we’re a good fit for this meaningful process of growth and learning.
