FEES AND PAYMENT
Transparent pricing for quality care in NYC
Our Approach to Cost and Care
At Insight Therapy NYC, we believe that financial transparency is an essential part of compassionate care. Understanding the cost of therapy helps you make informed decisions, plan for the investment, and focus on what truly matters — your growth and well-being. Our goal is to make quality care as accessible as possible while honoring the time, training, and expertise that go into every session.
Session Fees
Our session rates reflect the training, experience, and ongoing professional development of our clinicians. We’ve intentionally set our fees below the New York City average (typically $200–$460 per session for individual therapy) to make high-quality therapy more accessible while honoring the expertise and thoughtful attention that go into your care. Our goal is to ensure therapy remains a meaningful and sustainable investment in your well-being.

Out-of-Network Reimbursement
Insight Therapy NYC is an out-of-network provider, meaning we are not directly paneled with any insurance companies. However, many clients receive partial reimbursement for therapy through their out-of-network benefits.
If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, we’ll provide itemized invoice called a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.
To learn more about this process, visit our How Insurance Works page. If you’re unsure whether your insurance offers out-of-network reimbursement, you can fill out this form for an instant estimate* of your benefits. If the estimate doesn’t provide the clarity you need, click here and our team will confirm your benefits directly with your insurance company.
*Please note: this is only an estimate, not a guarantee of reimbursement. Always confirm the details with your insurance company, especially when it comes to telehealth coverage.
Reduced Fee Options
We reserve a limited number of reduced-fee slots for clients who may not be able to afford the full session rate. These are determined based on individual financial circumstances and therapist availability.
If you’d like to explore a reduced rate, you’re welcome to discuss this with your therapist during your free consultation. Together, you can determine a fee that feels sustainable for your needs and situation.
How Payment Works
To make the process simple and secure, you’ll be asked to place a credit card on file when you complete your registration paperwork. Your card will be charged the day of your session, after your appointment has taken place. This helps us streamline billing so you can focus fully on your care.
If you cancel your session at least 24 hours in advance, there is no charge. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice or do not attend your appointment, the full session fee will be charged.
We understand that life happens and emergencies, unexpected events, or sudden conflicts can arise. If this occurs, please reach out to your therapist as soon as possible. They’ll always take your circumstances into account and may be able to waive or adjust the fee at their discretion.
FAQs
-
Because we are an out-of-network provider, reimbursement decisions are made entirely by your insurance company. If your insurer denies or only partially reimburses a claim, you are still responsible for the full session fee. We do not participate in the appeals process but are happy to provide documentation or invoices if you’d like to follow up with your plan directly.
-
Reimbursement rates vary depending on your specific plan. Many clients receive up to 50–80% back after meeting their deductible. You can get an estimate of your coverage using this form about your exact coverage by contacting your insurance company directly.
-
Therapy costs reflect not only the time spent in session but also your clinician’s expertise, ongoing training, and the administrative support that allows for thoughtful, consistent care. Our $175 rate remains lower than the NYC average while ensuring that our therapists can continue to provide high-quality, sustainable support.
-
Yes. Many clients use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to pay for therapy. These accounts are designed for qualified medical expenses, and therapy services typically qualify. You can use your HSA/FSA card just like a regular credit card when paying for sessions.
-
Because payment is processed automatically after each session, we don’t send reminders before each charge. However, you’ll always receive a receipt through our secure system for transparency. If you ever need to update your payment information or have a question about a charge, your therapist or our billing team can assist you quickly.
-
We understand that finances can fluctuate, and we want to support you in continuing care whenever possible. Before deciding to pause therapy, you can talk with your therapist about options such as reducing session frequency or temporarily adjusting your rate based on need and availability. While it’s always okay to take a break if that’s what’s best for you, our goal is to help you find an arrangement that works both personally and financially so you can continue receiving consistent support.
-
We do not currently offer package rates or prepayment discounts. We believe in a straightforward, session-by-session model that gives clients the flexibility to attend therapy as needed without long-term financial commitments.
