Our Therapy Rates at Insight Therapy NYC

We offer high-quality, out-of-network therapy with rates that reflect our therapists’ training, expertise, and the high-touch, boutique care you’ll receive at Insight. All therapists, regardless of licensure level, are thoughtfully selected, supervised, and supported to ensure your care meets our standards for warmth, professionalism, and results.

Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs)$225 per session

Fully licensed, master’s-level therapists with advanced training in psychotherapy and specialized approaches. They work independently and often have areas of deep expertise in clinical focus areas.

Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs)$225 per session

Fully licensed, master’s-level therapists who specialize in creating individualized treatment plans and integrating a variety of therapeutic techniques. They provide independent care tailored to your needs.

Pre-Licensed Therapists: LMSWs & MHC-LPs$175 per session

Therapists who have completed all master’s-level training requirements and are in the final stage of obtaining independent licensure. They work under the close supervision of a senior licensed clinician, meaning your care benefits from two levels of clinical oversight. This is a great option if you want exceptional therapy at a more accessible rate.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rates & Services

Collapsible FAQ Blocks

Q: Why do rates differ by licensure level?
A: Therapist rates reflect their training, experience, and licensure. At Insight, all therapists—whether pre-licensed or fully licensed—are highly skilled and compassionate. Pre-licensed therapists have completed their graduate programs and are working toward full licensure under the guidance of a senior licensed clinician. This means you benefit from the expertise of two therapists for one rate, making it an excellent choice for exceptional care at a lower cost.

Q: What’s the value of working with a pre-licensed therapist?
A: Pre-licensed therapists (LMSW or MHC-LP) bring the latest clinical training, fresh perspectives, and a deep commitment to client care. They also receive weekly supervision from experienced licensed clinicians, so your treatment benefits from two professional viewpoints.

Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: Insight is an out-of-network provider, which means we don’t bill insurance directly. Many clients receive partial reimbursement for our services. We’ll provide you with a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company.

Q: How can I check if my insurance will reimburse me?
A: Call your insurance provider and ask:

  • What is my out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health services?

  • What percentage of the session cost is reimbursed?

  • Is there a deductible I need to meet first?
Our team can guide you through this process so you know exactly what to expect.

Q: Why is Insight’s care considered “boutique” or “high-touch”?
A: We intentionally keep caseloads small so we can give every client highly personalized care. Our therapists are chosen for their skill, warmth, and ability to build strong relationships. From the moment you reach out, you’ll feel our focus is on you—your needs, your goals, and your growth.

Q: How do I choose which therapist level is right for me?
A: If budget is your main concern, a pre-licensed therapist can provide excellent care at a lower rate. If you’re looking for a therapist with years of specialized experience or advanced training, a fully licensed clinician might be your best fit. Either way, you can expect the same compassion, professionalism, and commitment.

  • Just reach out. You can complete our questionnaire to match with a therapist or email us directly, and someone from our team will follow up to learn a bit about what you're looking for. From there, we’ll recommend a therapist or invite you to explore our team bios to see who feels like the right fit. There’s no pressure. We want you to feel at home from the very beginning.

  • Yes. Many clients come in knowing what kind of person they’d like to work with, while others prefer guidance. We’re happy to support either approach. You can review our therapists’ bios and request someone directly, or we can make a thoughtful match based on your needs, preferences, and availability.

  • That’s very common. Our intake process includes space for conversation. We’ll ask a few simple questions, listen carefully, and help you connect with a therapist who feels like the right match for you. This is a collaborative process, not an algorithm.

  • Most sessions are 45–50 minutes long, once a week. Some clients prefer longer or more frequent sessions depending on what they’re working through. We’ll tailor the cadence to your goals and preferences.

  • Weekly sessions are the standard, though many clients choose to meet more frequently during transitional or emotionally demanding times. This is something you and your therapist will decide together, based on what feels supportive and sustainable.

  • At this time, our focus is on individual therapy for adults and emerging adults. If you're seeking couples or family therapy, we’re happy to refer you to trusted colleagues in our extended network.
